"From the richness of Blackness came all shades of humanity." -Unknown

The idea that all skin tones originate from the color black is both a cultural observation and scientific. According to evolutionary biology and anthropology, modern humans (Homo sapiens) originated in East Africa around 200,000 years ago. (Google Mitochondrial Eve to learn more about the scientifically supported views of human origins.) Nonetheless, as humans migrated to areas with less sunlight, mutations over thousands of years led to lighter skin to absorb more Vitamin D. In this sense, "blackness" is a biological starting point. Science proves you can derive many variations from the depth of black, but you can’t reverse-engineer black from the absence of it. This reinforces that Blackness is not "other" or derivative—it is foundational.
